Imaging

The next large portion of this project consisted of Image drawing. The process of which is called drawing an ROI (Regions Of Interest). After given the many images from both Mass General and Brigham and Woman's, I would open the images up in a program called Slicer and use a drawing tool to highlight the brain metastasis(es) on each slice which it appeared.

What is it?

3D Slicer (Slicer) is a free and open source software package for image analysis and scientific visualization tool. This program is an application used to open images (specifically brain MRIs) and edit them appropriately for further scientific investigation.

How To Used Slicer

Slicer offers a way to see patient images and analyze them on a computer. Once the images are pulled up in this program, there are editing tools on the far left which can help one draw an ROI (highlight the metastasis(es)).

Why is this Important?

This system is important because by drawing the ROI, it is easier to analyze and measure the brain metastases for further research. With this, the ROI can be studied for further research much like the one being conducted at MGH.

My Imaging Tasks

Throughout this project at MGH I was tasked with drawing the ROI for different Melanoma patients images and sending them back to MGH
